Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 box chocolate cake mix 3 large eggs 1 teaspoon almond extract 40 ounces cherry pie filling -- 2 cans divided 3/4 teaspoon powdered sugar 8 ounces Cool Whip Free -- optional
Mix together cake mix, eggs, and almond extract. Stir in one can of cherry pie filling. Pour into a 9x13" pan that has been sprayed with PAM. Bake at 350 for approx. 30-35 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely. Top individual pieces with a spoonful of the remaining can of pie filling and FF Cool Whip if desired.
